Everyone please meet Tara + Jamison! They are beautiful souls inside and out who have been together since high school. We decided for this particular blog post to include their engagement photographs as well as their wedding day! Enjoy their engagement and wedding story below.
THEIR LOVE STORY :
Jamison proposed to Tara on August 1st, 2015. This was the weekend we were celebrating our ten year anniversary. Jamison blind folded Tara and brought her to a spot they would go during high school. There she found candles on the rocks, strawberry wine and their song playing in the background. She thought it was a romantic surprise for their anniversary. Instead, Jamison asked for forever. Little did she know, Jessica (Tara’s sister) and Bekkey (Jamison’s sister) were both hiding in the bushes taking photos. They then went back to Tara’s house to be greeted by another surprise- our parents put together a celebratory dinner! We spent the night and next day at the beautiful Mohonk Mountain House and enjoyed some time as a newly engaged couple.
Our lovely parents raised us both in a small, wonderful town called Saugerties & we both agree that we took for granted how great of a place it is. Saugerties friends are more like family. When deciding where to get married- we knew we had to come back home to the Hudson Valley.
We are highschool sweethearts. The stereotypical high school football player and cheerleader romance. Only it was so much more. Little did we know our relationship and love would grow and grow over the years.
We then stepped out of our comfort zone & journeyed to The College at Brockport where we met a bunch of lifelong friends. Jamison played some football & Tara learned how to be a nurse.
Our story now continues in Cleveland, OH. If you haven’t visited yet- you really should! We love it here. There’s so much to do & there’s lovely people we met here that we couldn’t imagine life without.
After working for three years in the medical intensive care unit at the Cleveland Clinic, Tara is now in Nurse Anesthesia school at Case Western. Jamison pursues his professional sports career now in Atlanta.
We can’t wait to see where this life will take us next.
Wedding Day Must Haves
1- Your girls. As magical as the day is, lets be real. It’s stressful. You need to have your truest of all girl friends and family by your side to help you smile and breatheeeeee.
2-A wedding day scent. When someone told me this, I thought that was very over the top and unnecessary. But, I got one anyways. I now only wear this scent on special occasions with Jamison. The smell brings up memories of the day just like a song or photo would. I chose Jo Malone, Wood Sage & Sea Salt.
3-A playlist to get ready to that makes you want to dance. Sometimes you just gotta celebrate and Shake it Off. And your wedding day is one of those times.
4-Photographers that feel like friends. They will be with you the whole day. So if they were awful, it would be awful. Thank goodness The Ramsden’s are just as talented as they are the most incredible humans ever.
The most memorable time was walking down the aisle. All of our most important people were surrounding us, but all I could see was Jamison. It felt like a movie.
Advice for Future Brides
So, ya know how everyone says- when you try on your dress… “You will know.” I never knew. I loved a bunch of dresses. But none of them made me want to cry (& I cry pretty easily). The process was extremely stressful to me. Until one day I decided- I’m not gonna decide. I chose a fitted dress and a twirly skirt to put on top and changed halfway through. This way I got to have two completely different looks. It was really fun to surprise Jamison with the change of dresses too! Long story short, sayings and guidelines regarding the wedding planning process can sometimes help. But don’t always follow them or feel upset if you don’t get “the feelz” they say you should get. Make your day your own.
For the day of, the best advice I got was from my brother. He told me – the day will go by so quickly, it can be easy to forget the purpose of it all. Some point in the middle of the night, step aside with your husband. Away from it all & just take it in. Talk to each other and reflect. We did that while looking over the Hudson and it ended up being one of my favorite moments of the night.
