Julie & Ted were married on a gorgeous cloudy summer day in July at Lippincott Manor in Wallkill, NY. They are a magical artistic and fun loving couple who hold friends and family dear to their hearts and wanted their day to celebrate their love for one another and the love for those around them. We can safely say they accomplished this by throwing a totally rad and beautiful wedding amongst the fields on the Hudson Valley.
We knew from their engagement shoot that they both have excellent style and taste – the know how to mix classic elegance with striking surprises. Julie already looks like a woodland fairy on a normal day with her pixiecut so you can only imagine that since “woodland fairy” was her goal for her wedding day look – then she was GOING TO achieve it – and with ease. Her Watters dress with the criss cross diagonal strappy back, AMAZING Dune London shoes with a kick ass chunky heel (you’ll see), head piece and hair by Annaliese of Annaliese & Co., and perfectly natural and ethereal make up by Jessica of Simply Elegant Beauty really all came together to create just the look she envisioned. Basically THE perfect look for their outdoor centric location.
When Julie told us her flowers were going to be colorful – I (Caitlinn) got extremely excited. I love a good monochromatic/blush bouquet but my heart comes to life with some COLOR. The juxtaposition of the clouds in the sky, the bright wildflower filled fields of Lippincott, and the prismatic florals by Floral Fantasies by Sara created some eye popping visuals that astounded us.
Their first look was bursting with happiness. If it was a tangible object it would have exploded into fireworks in front of our eyes. I will never forget the huge smiles that appeared on their faces as soon as they saw each other and remained that way for the rest of the day. Their ceremony was full of love, happiness, and laughter – wonderfully carried out by Rev Stuart who seemed to be the perfect match for Julie & Ted. Cocktail hour involved lawn games, drinks all around, and even some pre-reception dancing. One of my favorite photos of the whole day was while we were setting up a big informal family photograph – Julie stood in front of everyone flexing – and Ted casually walked up, squeezed her muscle, and walked on – like this is something they do often. (You can find that image below amongst the cocktail hour photographs.) The reception was an amazing party filled with laughter and energy that continued through the evening. We were so so so happy to have met these two and worked with some of our favorite Hudson Valley professionals. Thinking of this day still brings huge smiles to our faces and we are so thankful for that.
In their words:
How they met : Ted and I met at the college of Saint Rose in Albany, which is funny since we grew up only 40 minutes from each other. We often joke that we probably saw each other at the Poughkeepsie Galleria at some earlier point in our lives.
The proposal : Ted proposed September 6, 2015. We were preparing to have a picnic in the park so as I cut up some snacks in the kitchen he surprised me with the ring! He had plans to propose in the park but knew I would much rather it be just the two of us. After that I said Yes! and instead of going to the park we went to one of our favorite bars to celebrate with champagne and fries!
Wedding day priorities : Ted and I both knew we wanted to have an outdoor wedding, long before we got engaged. We wanted it to be a party where we could celebrate our love with everyone we love! Our original plan was to have it in a family member’s backyard. As we started getting more into the details, however, we realized it would be much more difficult and expensive than we had originally thought, so, we started researching venues online. When we found Lippincott Manor and knew it would be perfect. It was everything we would have done in the backyard but done by seasoned professionals, and would be much less stressful for us.
Favorite moments: The wedding day was amazing for both Ted and I. In a day packed with so many great moments, it is hard to pick only a few as our favorites. One of the things that meant the most to me was in the morning before anyone else woke up, my Dad and I went on a walk around my neighborhood. We just talked about the day and how great it was going to be. It was such a special way to start the day.
Ted and I both loved seeing each other for the first time during our first look. Once we saw each other there was a sense of calmness and relief. Anything that we were worried about before didn’t matter because we were together. After that we were ready!
One of Ted’s favorite moments was walking in as we were announced and seeing all of our family and friends there. It was so special to see everyone so happy for us and being able to enjoy the day together. I could go on and on about what an amazing day it was. We are so lucky to have such wonderful family and friends who helped us have the Best Day Ever!
