Francesca and Doug had the most beautiful mid-November wedding at The Garrison in Garrison, NY.  Something we cannot emphasize enough is for people to follow their hearts and *their* vision for their wedding day.  These two did just that – they made sure they had a beautiful golden hour ceremony OUTSIDE regardless of the cold temperature.  They knew they wanted an outdoor ceremony and they also knew it would be quite chilly.  To make their outdoor dreams possible they provided lovely wraps for their guests and had The Garrison set up outdoor heaters along the ceremony seating.  As photographers, and lovers of the outdoors, we could not contain our excitement knowing that we would be able to photograph them outside, in the gorgeous sunshine, in front of the jaw-dropping view of the Hudson Valley that The Garrison is infamous for.  In our opinions and artistic eyes – nothing beats an outdoor ceremony.

We could not have been happier with the clear skies and endless Hudson River views and although there were definitely a few shivers going on – I would say everyone saw and felt that it was worth it.  Breathing in the fresh air and hearing them exchange vows before they officially became husband and wife.  (Fun fact:  Francesca and Doug were married by Rev Marc Sabin – HE ALSO MARRIED US.  If you want a completely custom wedding ceremony along with custom vows that he creates for you (which really relieves some of that stress) then he is the man for you.  An example from our own wedding day being that Brian is the calm to my crazy storm he came up with the vow “I am the anchor to your flying kite.” Yes. All the feels.).

Back to these beauties: Francesca’s elegant and lovely lace dress by Rivini was the perfect pair to Doug’s classic Black Tux.  The bridesmaids dresses were a mix of sweeping pastels and neutrals – moving in the air with every move they made.  Their flowers were overflowing rose & hydrangea filled neutrals put together with total perfection by the hands of Floral Fantasies by Sara.

It was a beautiful day full of love, magic, sunshine, and the great outdoors.  We were so happy and continue to be so happy for these two wonderful human beings.

A little background from Francesca herself:

“Doug and I met in 2011 at a holiday party he had at his apartment in the city.  My friend from college was working at the same company as Doug at the time and introduced us.  Doug reached out to me a few days after the party and we started dating shortly after that!  Doug proposed to me in July of 2014 when we were living in Hoboken together.  He proposed at Pier C in Hoboken, and I was completely surprised!

Our ideal vision for our wedding day was to essentially have a big party where we would be surrounded by all of the people we love, friends and family.  It was also very important to me that my parents be a part of the planning, as I was the first of their four daughters to get married and this was a big day for them as well.  We looked at a few venues in Brooklyn before ultimately choosing the Garrison.  We were referred by a friend and as soon as we drove up to the venue we were blown away by the views of the Hudson Valley.  The floor to ceiling windows in the cocktail and reception rooms allowed our guests to enjoy the view while being protected from the November cold!

Wedding planning was definitely more stressful than I thought it would be, but Doug was so hands on, it made the process so much easier than it would’ve been had I done a majority of the planning on my own.  It also allowed me to get a glimpse of what a supportive husband and partner I would be marrying.  Marrying Doug was one of the easiest decisions I have ever made, and our wedding day was everything we imagined it would be.  While I definitely lost my cool a few times throughout the morning of our big day, Doug (along with my sisters and two bridesmaids) were there to calm me down and assure me everything would go perfectly.  And it did!  The only hiccup we experienced was with our cake.  It was delivered plain white with no decorations, not the pale pink and gold cake and I had ordered (and dreamed about!).  However, the crew at the Garrison swiftly grabbed the cake during the reception and used flowers from one of the bridesmaid bouquets to decorate it, and it came out even more beautifully than what I had originally ordered.

Being able to see all of our wedding visions come to fruition, and to see our friends and family enjoying themselves was the best thing ever, and we honestly couldn’t have wished for a better wedding day.  To us, it was perfect, and having you and Brian photograph all the amazing moments we had was so special.  We are so grateful to have had you as our photographers on our special day!”
