Elisa & Mark are two of the most magical human beings that I have had the pleasure of knowing long before their wedding. Elisa is an intelligent beautiful calming soul. Mark is one of those people that are quietly hilarious and wonderful – he also happens to be (not kidding and I am a music lover) one of the most talented drummers you will ever meet. One of my favorite emotional aspects of this wedding was how HAPPY they were when they first saw each other. Confession : moments like that are what made me fall in love with documenting weddings.
Elisa & Mark did one of my favorite things that anyone can do – unisex bridal parties. Mark’s “groomsmen” were made up of his 3 brothers and his sister. They wore gray suits and she wore a dress. Elisa’s bridesmaids were made up her sister and 3 of her closest friends.
They were married in late October at Vassar Chapel with their reception at Vassar Alumnae House. Two of the most magical architectural wonders the Hudson Valley has to offer. A total art history nerds dream (aka me. Thank you Art History minor.)! Vassar Chapel is a HUGE Romanesque style beauty built in 1904. The Alumnae House was done in the American-Tudor style. This “house” is also known as the “House of a Thousand Treasures” because almost everything in it was donated by Vassar alumnae. You will see in the photographs just how magical these locations are – and a lot of those treasures referred to in the nickname of the house.
They were married by Mark’s father in a heartfelt ceremony. The sun shining through the chapel windows creating beautiful and mysterious lighting. The Costello’s played as they walked down the aisle for the first time as husband and wife and again during their first dance. I’ll let the photographs speak for themselves.
